1. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an application, participating in our services, or accepting support from Tangency Foundation (“Tangency,” “we,” “our”), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Applicants under 18 must have consent from a parent, guardian, or authorized advisor. We may update these terms at any time, and the latest version will always be available on this page.
2. Eligibility & Applicant Responsibilities
- Accuracy: All information provided must be true, complete, and supplied in good faith. Misrepresentation may result in immediate disqualification or repayment of funds.
- Scholarships: Applicants must be students or accepted students pursuing education connected to their activism. Proof of enrollment may be requested prior to disbursement.
- Micro-Grants: Project leads should demonstrate community grounding, a clear budget, and the ability to implement the work in the region identified in the application.
- Consulting & Training: Participants agree to provide necessary background information and context to ensure sessions are safe, inclusive, and productive.
- Compliance: All participants agree to comply with local, state, federal, and institutional rules connected to their work.
3. Application Materials & Deadlines
All required fields within our application forms must be completed before submission. Supporting documentation (transcripts, budgets, decks, letters, etc.) can be attached to the follow-up email generated from our forms.
- Late or incomplete applications may be placed on hold until the next review cycle.
- Tangency is not responsible for technical issues on the applicant’s device or email provider.
- By sending materials via email, you consent to secure storage of your submission for review purposes.
4. Funding & Service Expectations
Scholarships
- Funds must be used for education-related costs (tuition, fees, housing, books, accessibility needs). If circumstances change, inform us in writing.
- Recipients may need to provide a brief progress update, thank-you letter, or documentation verifying how funds were applied.
- Scholarships are not transferable and do not establish an employment relationship with Tangency.
Micro-Grants
- Funds must be applied toward the project described in the proposal. Material changes to scope or leadership require written approval.
- Grantees agree to submit a short impact or expense summary within 60 days of project completion or as requested.
- Purchase of weapons, lobbying expenditures, partisan activity, or unlawful actions are strictly prohibited uses of Tangency funds.
Consulting, Training & Other Services
- Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled with 48 hours’ notice. Repeated no-shows can limit access to future services.
- Any shared strategy or resource is provided for educational purposes. Implementation remains the responsibility of the participant.
- Participants agree to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all facilitators and attendees.
5. Code of Conduct & Community Safety
We expect all applicants, partners, and program participants to embody the principles of Activism Literacy: integrity, equity, and accountability. Tangency may pause or withdraw support if a participant engages in harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or behavior that endangers community members.
6. Data & Privacy
- Application data is reviewed only by authorized Tangency team members and trusted advisors directly involved in the selection process.
- We store application materials for recordkeeping, auditing, and reporting requirements associated with our nonprofit status.
- You may request deletion of stored materials by emailing contact@activisthq.org, subject to legal retention obligations.
7. Communications & Publicity
By applying, you grant Tangency permission to contact you via email or phone regarding your submission. Scholarship and grant recipients may be invited to share impact stories and photos for our website, reports, or social channels. We will never publish sensitive information without consent, and you may decline publicity requests at any time.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of your ideas, curriculum, and creative materials. When sharing content for review or collaboration, you grant Tangency a limited, non-exclusive license to view and reference those materials for evaluation. Any co-created materials during consulting or training engagements will include mutually agreed upon attribution.
9. Changes, Suspension, or Termination
Tangency may modify, suspend, or terminate programs at any time. If a scholarship or grant is withdrawn after funds are disbursed due to a breach of these terms, we may request reimbursement or redirect remaining funds to another community partner. Participants will be notified of significant changes via email.
